Welcome to my website! It is my pleasure to introduce myself in hopes that we can become acquainted. I am Dr. Marlo R. Tait. I am a Clinical Child, Marriage & Family Therapist and an ESE Learning Specialist. I have over 10 years of experience working in the private sector, as well as, in mental health agencies, schools, colleges, and non-profit organizations.
My style of therapy is personable and easy going. I strive to create a comfortable, safe, non-intimidating, peaceful environment for my clients. So, I do not have a flair for the drama! My approach is humanistic/existential, which means, I prescribe to the idea that through attitudes and choices, we all have the potential to live a happy and meaningful life. Under that framework, I utilize a variety of techniques that respond to the personality and individual needs of my client.
My educational background includes a PhD in Counseling from BarryUniversity. In addition, I have earned a Master’s degree with a dual specialization in Marriage & Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling. And, I have a Specialist degree in Exceptional Student Education. My undergraduate studies were done at Tuskegee University. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor by the State of Florida/Department of Health.
As a Clinical Therapist, I work with individuals, groups, couples, children, and families. I provide marital/divorce therapy, pre/post partum therapy, career/financial counseling, individual/self-esteem therapy, grief counseling, parent skills training, and assessment. My specialty includes, child disorders, eating disorders, marital/divorce/relationship issues, obsessive-compulsive disorders, addictions, and learning disabilities.
As an ESE Learning Specialist, I work with individuals, groups, students, children and adult learners. I provide tutorial service, reading skills development, behavior modification, organizational skills, communication/assertive behavior skills, test taking skills, standard test preparation, and assessments. My specialty includes, students with ADH/D, slow readers, developmentally delayed, learning disabilities, and dyslexia.
As a Director, my priority is to meet the highest standard of treatment for the clients serviced at Arising Above Learning & Counseling Center. Through treatment plans, progress reports, and client feedback, I continue to assess the need for quality and growth.
